Types of Discounts

Discounts come in two main forms: flat amount (e.g., $20 off) and percentage off (e.g., 15% off). Use our discount calculator for both. To compare prices on different items, always convert to % discount.

Discount Formula

Final Price = Original Price − (Original Price × Discount / 100). Example: $250 jacket at 35% off → 250 − (250 × 0.35) = 250 − 87.50 = $162.50.

When Is the Best Time to Buy?

Research shows that discounts of 20–30% feel significant to most consumers, while anything below 10% rarely changes purchase intent. Black Friday and end-of-season sales often feature 40–70% reductions.
